Welcome to the wedding blog of Blue Orchid Designs! My name is Liene (and in case you're wondering, it's pronounced Lynn) and I am the CEO of Blue Orchid Designs, a wedding planning firm with consultants in Arizona, New York, and Washington DC. I am also the founder of Splendid Communications, an online media consultancy serving the wedding and event industries. Some of my favorite things include candlelit dinners and long walks on the beach. Oops, sorry! Wrong intro.

In all seriousness, we're glad you've stopped by our blog! We love weddings. We love people. And we really love pretty things. So we dish about all of the above here at the Blue Orchid Designs blog. Our blogging style is direct, pragmatic and fun. If the dress isn't your most flattering style, we'll tell you. We'll also be the ones wearing waterproof mascara on your wedding day because chances are very high that we will mist up when you walk down that aisle. So, pour yourself your favorite beverage and come join us! We are just a little bit addicting, if we do say so ourselves.

Vane, over at Brooklyn Bride, emailed yesterday announcing a bridal blog holiday card swap she is hosting. Today she posted more details on her blog. The swap is open to everyone: brides, non-brides and vendors. It's easy and since it's only five cards, not overwhelming - I think she deserves a champagne toast for that one! What a fun way to spread some holiday cheer this season!

Here is the 411:

brooklyn bride holiday card swap

I don't know about you guys, but I love getting mail....especially the snail mail kind. With this blog, I've gotten to know a lot of you and my fellow bridal bloggers, and thought how nice it would be to be able to send some holiday cheer everyone's way! Best way I can think of is a Holiday Card Swap!

So here's how it works:

*Send an email to me at brooklynbride [at] gmail [dot] com with Holiday Card Swap in the subject line by November 21 [day before Thanksgiving]. Include your name, address, email address, and website/blog address [if you have one].

*By December 1, I will have emailed you the names and addresses of up to 5 people to send cards to.

*Your cards can be store bought or handmade [think Gocco, glitter, photoshop, cut + paste, sewing, etc....

*Send out your cards by December 15 at the latest!

*Wait patiently by your mailbox! Happy swapping!!

[this swap WILL be open to international readers, so pay attention to extra postage needs]
