Inspiration can be found everywhere. Here are some of my favorite online sites for inspiration and useful information.
The Sartorialist
Wedding trends follow interior design which follows fashion. To determine what's going to be in style for upcoming wedding seasons, I recommend turning to fashion first. By the time an idea hits a wedding magazine, it is usually on its way out. The Sartorialist is my favorite online resource for artistic inspiration.
Hostess with the Mostess
Jenn writes the Hostess blog and it is chock full of party ideas and lots of pictures of pretty and fun combinations for entertaining. She also offers surprise giveaways with fab prizes from trendsetting companies.
Decor8
Written by designer Holly Becker, the decor8 blog features ideas, advice and inspiration for interior design.
Design*Sponge
Grace Bonney showcases design in every form on the design*sponge blog. Whether interior design, great architecture, or a new line of stationery - if it is inspirational, Grace will find it.

1 change your world
One of my core beliefs is that we are blessed to be a blessing. We all know people who get too caught up with the bottom line, entrench themselves in the rat race, and define success solely by the status of their bank account. They forget what’s important in life and miss out on truly living.
One of my greatest fears in starting a business was that I would unwittingly slip into that same mentality. So when I started Blue Orchid Designs, one of my main priorities was to remain involved in philanthropic and humanitarian efforts.
There are a lot of great causes out there and there is no possible way we can each be involved in all of them. The key is to support causes that align with your personal passions. The issues of HIV/AIDS and cancer, human rights, and debilitating poverty are areas that resonate deeply with my heart. Here are some great organizations whose work focuses on those issues:

Pink Initiative
Pink Initiative is a collection of wedding industry professionals and private donors dedicated to funding awareness, outreach, education and research for breast cancer.

Thirst Relief International
From the website:
"Thirst Relief International, in partnership with you, exists to provide humanitarian and disaster relief to those in need worldwide through the provision of safe, clean drinking water. We are sickened and called to action knowing that nearly 2 million people die annually (90% of which are children under the age of 5) simply because they lack access to clean drinking water. As a result, we are working to put an end to the worldwide water crisis plaguing 1.1 billion people."

Kiva: Loans that Change Lives
From the website:
"Kiva.org allows individuals to make $25 loans to low-income entrepreneurs in the developing world (microfinance). By doing so, individuals like you provide affordable working capital for the poor (money to buy a sewing machine, livestock, etc.), empowering them to earn their way out of poverty. It's a new, direct and sustainable way to fight global poverty."

Liene Stevens
owner and lead consultant
With prior experience in planning events in the non-profit, corporate and private sectors, Liene Stevens opened Blue Orchid Designs, an event design and planning firm specializing in intercultural weddings. One of Arizona's fastest growing wedding planning companies, their events have been featured in magazines and Liene has been quoted in various publications, including The New York Times.
Liene's studies in psychology and cross-cultural relations lend a unique perspective to her design approach. Her experiences working in developing nations have enabled her to think quickly on her feet and have helped shape her views on social responsibility. Because of this, she is committed to making Blue Orchid Designs as "green" as possible and to partnering with eco-chic and socially conscious companies.
In addition to planning and designing stylish weddings and events through Blue Orchid Designs, Liene is the founder of The Smart Planner™, a business coaching resource for professional wedding consultants. Her first book is scheduled to be released at the end of 2008. Liene is also an ordained minister and is known for her patience, flexibility, humor and the genuine friendships she forms with her clients.
A Note from Liene . . .
Allow me to let you in on a little secret: I am not passionate about weddings. Now before you run off screaming that I hate my job, let me explain. I love my job. I absolutely love what I do.
I am passionate about people. Quite simply, people are my life’s calling.
For me, a wedding isn’t just about the one day or weekend. If my reason for being a wedding designer consisted of little more than my loving any excuse to play with pretty linens and beautiful flowers (both true), I would burn out rather quickly.
A wedding is significant because it is about the marriage and commitment to each other the couple is making. It is about two people committing to continually work on their relationship, to build a stronger love for one another and as a result, naturally build a healthier community around them.
Weddings are a celebration of two people who have chosen to share their lives at the deepest level possible - through the good, the bad, and the ugly. They are a celebration of the guests – the people who have poured into, spoken into, supported and shared life with the bride and groom. They are a celebration of what has been and what will be. In short, they are a celebration of relationships, both of the couple and their network of family and friends.
Being able to help a couple celebrate who they are, where they come from, and where they are headed is such an unbelievable blessing. That is why I do this. That is what makes it worthwhile.
