Welcome to the wedding blog by Blue Orchid Designs! My name is Liene (and in case you're wondering, it's pronounced Lynn) and I am the CEO of Blue Orchid Designs, a wedding planning firm with consultants in Arizona, New York, and Washington DC. I am also the founder of Splendid Communications, an online media consultancy serving the wedding and event industries. Some of my favorite things include candlelit dinners and long walks on the beach. Oops, sorry! Wrong intro.
In all seriousness, we're glad you've stopped by our blog! We love weddings. We love people. And we really love pretty things. So we dish about all of the above here at the Blue Orchid Designs blog. Our blogging style is direct, pragmatic and fun. If the dress isn't your most flattering style, we'll tell you. We'll also be the ones wearing waterproof mascara on your wedding day because chances are very high that we will mist up when you walk down that aisle. So, pour yourself your favorite beverage and come join us! We are just a little bit addicting, if we do say so ourselves.

Today is our very first "Meet the Readers" (working title - I may change it to something more clever later on) feature and I am excited to introduce you all to Julie Q! I can't remember when Julie first left a comment on the Blue Orchid Designs blog, but I want to say it was at least over a year ago. She's stopped by to say hello at different points since then and in the meantime I've fallen in love with her blog, The JQ Lounge, as well. It is one that always puts a smile on my face and Julie's wit and perspective on pop culture is addicting. I asked Julie to answer some gossip-magazine style questions for us, and here's what she has to say:
Name: Julie Q
Location: Boston, MA
Blog or Website: www.jqlounge.com
What do you do for a living?
Account Executive
What is your favorite way to spend a Sunday?
Grab an iced coffee and the NY Post, a quick run (actually that's not my favorite part at all!), a trip to Trader Joe's in the morning, and Sunday afternoons are usually spent in the living room with my MacBook reading up on blogs and gossip magazines while sports are on in the background (but if my husband didn't have the remote, it'd probably be on all-day marathons of "Whose Wedding is it Anyway"!).
What is your dream vacation spot?
Quiet beach, hot sun, no technology except for a blender to make margaritas and an iPod, and, of course, my favorite vacation accessory: sudoku.
What beauty item could you not live without?
This is impossible to answer because I am a huge makeup junkie. I'll try my best though: Anything MAC, Benefit's Bad Gal Mascara, and Cargo Bronzer . . . hmm that was actually easier than I thought. ;)
What two people (past or present) would you have as guests at a dinner party and why?
Tina Fey and Jackie O. They both represent strong women in different times. Plus I've always wanted to sit down at a dinner table with 8 types of silverware.
What is the best piece of advice you've ever received?
Well this is good because you have a wedding blog! Before I got married, my friend's mother gave me some great advice that I'm still trying to work on to this day! She said "While it's great to do many things together with your future husband, it's important to make sure you make some time for some of your own hobbies. You'll appreciate that independence when you are older".
What are your three favorite blogs besides blueorchidblog.com?
Hmmm, I really have a top ten for favorite blogs that I read everyday, but here are three of them!
1. More is Better
I love how Nicole writes exactly what she feels! Plus I have a huge "friend crush" on her.
2. More Fun than a Barrel
WeeMo has the best sense of humor (because it's like mine! lol) plus she always posts pictures of food.
3. My Wardrobe Today
I think me and Allie are long lost second cousins, plus she posts pictures of her outfit everyday. If I did that I'd probably never leave the house without changing at least five times!
Julie also shared a photo with us from her wedding - I love how you can sense their joy just by looking at it:
Thanks, Julie! It was great getting to know you better!
